Iowa State Senate Bill SF 281: A bill for an act relating to dissolvable products and providing penalties.

This Bill could:

Ban the sale of smokeless tobacco products such as tobacco lozenges, sticks, strips or Orbs by stores which allow customers under the age of 18 or does not receive 99% or more of its gross sales from the sale of tobacco or nicotine products. This would include locations which are still permitted to sell cigarettes, such as grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations and drug stores.

SF 281 has already passed the Health Committee and been put on the calendar. It was supported by lobbyists from the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association and the Iowa Nurses Association.
